Song sparrow in my tree!

He's not spending the entire day though, maybe testing out different 'hoods...

Song sparrow, FOY, in neighbourhood

Heard a few (didn't see them) while walking the dogs in the broader neighbourhood.  Wonder if our little tree will get its own sparrow again this year...

Cedar waxwing flock eating last fall's apples on tree at CHM orchard

Beautiful to see!

Common Goldeneye - lifer - at Mud Lake (by the water plant)

Two, I think both males?  For sure at least one was male.  Didn't notice them at all until I looked far from shore through my binoculars.

American Black Duck - lifer - at Mud Lake (by the water plant)

A fine male, who I didn't notice for the longest time as I thought he was a she mallard.

Canada Geese a-plenty

New binoculars: Vortex Viper HD 8x42

WOW!  What a huge improvement over my generic super-cheap ones that claimed to be 12 x 25.  Definitely those were NOT 12 power, and the new Vipers are so much better in almost every way!  (Other than weight.) The major differences: - So bright!  Amazing in low light! - So clear and crisp! - Such a nice wide field of view! - Focuses super-close! - Waterproof!  Fogproof! - Unlimited lifetime warranty! Got them at Sail, for 10% off by signing up my email for their mailing list.   Picked them up today, so tried them only once so far (at BH) but I love them! - Not heavy! - Fits in my dogwalking bag! Yes the focus wheel is quite long, but, not bad and way better than my cheapies.

Cedar waxwings - FOY - at BH, creek near JF

Flock of 5!  At first I thought they were female cardinals, then my brain clued in.

Red-winged blackbird - FOY - at BH, creek near JF

Robins a-plenty

Seeing lots of them, lots of places.

Pine siskin - lifer - at BH (creek near JF)

At the bird feeder tree in the camp HQ area.  Several of them, unmistakeable.  Lifer!

Mud Lake: Pair of ravens; ?

Can't remember what else I saw!  (Writing this two weeks later.)  But the pair of ravens in the tree was pretty neat.
